How does the iPhone Duo effect work on Mac?

What is this MacBook folding animation?

It is a software animation of your desktop: the image tilts, blurs and darkens as you close the lid. The physical MacBook display stays rigid. LidLab lets you adjust each of these visual effects separately.

Can I use only the blur effect?

Yes. Blur-only mode disables perspective, stretching and shadows. Adjust blur strength, its starting point and its spread as the lid angle changes.

Which Macs support the effect?

Live lid tracking requires an Apple Silicon MacBook with a compatible lid-angle sensor and macOS 14 or later. The sensor has been verified on MacBook Air M2. On a Mac without the sensor, you can try the manual preview, but live tracking is unavailable.

Do I need an iPhone Duo to use LidLab?

No. LidLab runs on a compatible MacBook without connecting an iPhone. Its visual effect evokes a folding animation, but LidLab is an independent app with no affiliation with Apple.
